64th all star Weekend!

New York is so lucky, but don't think I'm talking about the regular season. no never think about the Knicks, but New York is lucky because they are hosting the All-Star game!
But all I really have got too write is Russell Westbrook. 41 points!!! One point shy of the record for points in a all-star game, held by none other then, Wilt the Stilt (Wilt Chamberlin). Westbrook also had 27 of his 41points in the first half, a all-star game record, but then if you remember Klay's 37 in a quarter, which Klay pretty much scored in 7minutes out of, a 12 minute quarter, you just sort of say "eh", by considering the all-star has like, NO defense at all!
Klay Thompson beside being the back-up star for Stephen Curry still managed to make to the all-star game.
   Now on some records:
  1. Every year some player scores a ton of points in the all-star game, this year the top scorer was Russell Westbrook notching, a game high 41points. His career high for points was in a loss against the New Orleans Pelicans, with 48 points.
  2. The score, a record breaking 163 (west), 158 (east).
  3. Raining bombs, three-pointers for both team were layups in the all-star game,48threes is the record on  threes now, the record before was 27.This year a dazziling 21 threes more than the record!
  4. The Gasol's  of brothers both got voted to play in the all-star game. The two brothers both starters had a jump ball against each other, for the east it was Pau Gasol (Chicago Bulls)vs Marc Gasol (Memphis Grizzles), both of them were traded for each other, Pau played with the Grizzles, while Marc played for the Lakers. The record was they were the FIRST brothers to start against each other! Pau was a lot more used to the all-star game, by playing in his fifth  all-star selection, Marc on the other hand was having his all-star debut!
The dunk contest was a wrap by Zach LaVine he became the second youngest player to win a slam dunk contest. The contestants were Zach LaVine (Minnesota  Timber-Wolves), Victor Olidipo (Orlando Magic), Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn Nets), and Giannias... Well I'll just say the Greek Freak  (Milwaukee Bucks). Zach knew all-star lights when he saw them, and he delivered quite nicely! Mason jumped over his brother Miles Plumlee, who just got traded to the Bucks. Victor showed off another talent that doesn't have anything to do with dunking the basketball, which was signing and did a 540 degrees dunk, but the Greek freak just went into the dunk.
Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson, the splash brothers both went to the championship, so if  you were like me, and love the Golden State Warriors, then if you're really like me you wanted Klay Thompson to win then you're disappointed, but are happy that Steph won.
This year they changed the three-point contest, the last rack which is a money balls worth two points, which gives you a grand total of 34 points.
The shooting stars challenge was crazy a third strait win by team Bosh. The shooting stars challenge works like this: The teams are made with a WNBA player, a Legend of the NBA, and a current NBA player. The WNBA shoots a layup until she makes it, then the Legend has to make a shot from on top of the key, and the NBA player makes a three, once all that is done everyone in the group shoots half courts, once you make it the time it takes you to make all of it is the fastest time you want, and all the teams dot that until the championship round, and you win! This year the NBA changed the challenge by your team has to rebound for you.
Skills challenge, you go through a obstacle course, dribbling, passing, and of course shooting  . I didn't watch it this year so I don't know what happened, but I know Patrick Beverly from the Houston Rockets. He was squeezed in, but still managed to win the challenge.
And last but not least the Rising Stars challenge, and just like most of the games was changed around. It was the World vs the USA. This game you could say was the game that chose which was better in terms of drafting players. The USA was the fan favorite because that's where the NBA lives.
But the World still managed to win! Andrew Wiggins was the MVP of the game, with swag, a 360 dunk could easily swing the favorite team around, and it did Wiggins on the break pulled off a 360!

The Rivers family reunion!

Austin River's original team that drafted him was the, New Orleans Pelicans/Hornets.
The LA Clippers, have traded for Austin Rivers, in a three team trade. The coach for the LA Clippers is Austin's DAD, Doc Rivers. Doc himself played in the NBA, his stats were: 10.9 points, 5.4 assists, 3.o rebounds, 0.4 blocks, and 1.8 steals per game.
Austin is averaging: 6.9 points, 2.2 assists, 1.8 rebounds, 0.1 blocks, 0.6 steals.
neither of the Rivers were the stars on there team, but they have made impacts on there teams.
Doc one of the top coaches in the league, and in my opinion he's the second best coach behind Greg Popovich.
the trade for Austin involved three teams the Suns who traded Shavlik Randolph, Celtics who traded Austin Rivers, and the LA clippers who traded Reggie Bullock, and Chris Dougles-Roberts, and a 2017 draft pick.
